Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing in New York City. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981 she began to report on the White House. In 1988, she became the chief journalist for Congress. In 1992, she was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a host as well as a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her contribution to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories, including the Iran-contra scandal and tax reform. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan in numerous visits for world summits and wrote frequently.
